Red Flag Warning, 2019. Linen, woodcut on mulberry. 85x24” (2-panel). Private Collection. — This work began in the summer of 2018 in reaction to waves of smoke resulting from wildfires burning in Alberta, while large wildfires spread across swathes of land in North America. The devastation of roaring walls of flames, the aftermath of a rubble-covered wasteland, and of soot and ash filling the air reflects the damage of climate change and serves as a metaphor for the political rage I’ve felt from 2016 onwards.
