Red Flag Warning

Red Flag Warning – 2019.  24×85” (2) linen, woodcut on mulberry.

This work began last summer in reaction to the waves of smoke resulting from wildfires in the west. The devastation of roaring flames and the aftermath of soot and ash in the air reflects the damage of climate change and serves as metaphor for the political rage I feel in the last couple of years.

  1. These pieces are a testament to the devastation of the California wild fires of 2018! They do portray the chaos and intensity with which those fires spread. And they speak to the bleakness and destruction our world is experiencing from climate change. The textile aspect indicates a hope, saying that if we all unite and work together, we can indeed still mend the damage! Well done!!
